Public Places Smoking Ban

PROHIBITION smoking in public places effectively reduced the rate of heart attacks.  This was revealed in two studies in the United States. In a study published in the journal Circulation revealed that the ban on smoking in the U.S., Canada, and Europe reduce heart attack rates up to 17% in the first year. That number increased in the third year to reach 36%.

A second study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology estimate the smoking ban in the U.S. caused a decrease in heart attacks as much as 154 thousand per year. The ban on smoking in public places is very effective hit rate of heart attacks. The ban is also expected to reduce the number of cases of lung cancer, "said Dr. David Meyers from the Faculty of Medicine University of Kansas who led the study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

Smoking ban had been imposed various countries in the world. In the U.S., 32 states have done to ban smoking in public places and work spaces.
So does in Indonesia, a ban on smoking in public places was introduced, even more than that, the price of cigarettes had been raised, but the habit of some peoples who are used to smoking is difficult to stop, let alone Indonesia is one of the world's largest cigarette manufacturer, with active users of cigarettes, too.

Another possibility is the awareness of the publics or themselves personally, discipline and consistency may be necessary to minimize the use of cigarettes as a habit of daily life. Smoking cigarettes in Indonesia can be interpreted as social event, lifestyle, even more than that, namely to show social status. For exploiting well-known brand of cigarettes with expensive prices can be viewed as having higher social status, especially the rural areas. It is this perception that smoking bans may make it difficult to remove, especially the ban was only a suggestion that is not accompanied by strict sanctions, then such things will not work effectively.
