History of Phonicians

history of phonician
History of the Phonicians (1200 bc)
Beginning of human civilization has little contact with other cultures, other than geographically adjacent to their territory.  This continued even after the great civilization of Egypt and Mesopotamia formed. Egyptian nation made contact with people who are in Nubia(south), and with the Mesopotamia nation in the east.  While the Mesopotamia interact with Persian nation and other cultures in the north and east of their territory.  Altough there are some people who openly traveled accros boundaries and political territories from his home country, it seems only a little interest from the kingdoms of that time to conduct trade with other kingdoms which are far away from the influence of their authority.

That all changed with the presence of Phonician, they are group of people who settle down in a coastal area in areas around middle sea (mediteranian sea) the east part. This area is now known by name Lebanon.  They live with face to face with sea, while the back of them surrounded by mountains, which eventually made them a sailors nation's.  More than that, they became the first maritime trading power in the world, and even the one at the time. They are also the first in the middle east who developed continouos contract with eupopean nations. That's why their journey to be the turning point in world history.  Before Phonician nation, there never was anyone else are trying to extend fully their trade ties with what was considered at that time as "the end of the world".

Phonician fleet, including military battleship and commercial/trades ships, always stopping in almost all the ports in both sides "Medeterania". The fleet sailed trough the Gibraltar strait to Atlantic ocean, and visited ports in northern Europe and the ports along the coast of Africa. While some claim that they had reached the coast of north America.  Phonician peoples also occupied the region is called the Cyprus to the Corsica and Spanish. And in the years 810 BC, they founded a great city-state at the time, and they gave name of city as "Carthage" (now known as Tunisian), which had been destined to become one of the city-state most influence city in the Medeterania mainland.  More than just trade, phonicia nation also developed the art of making glass, because they are the first people who have discovered how to make glass. They are the first people to make tools from transparent glass and transulen in large numbers. This things, which in turn becomes an important element in their trade.
